The innovative side of the project comes from the combination of the agricultural and cultural aspects, to be short, the most beautiful tribute to the equine specie.

The Caspian horse is one of the five breeds worldwide still possessing genes from the common ancestor the Tarpan horse. The other ones being; the Przewalski from Mongolia, the Dülmener in Germany, the Pottock from the French Pyrenees and the Portuguese Soraya. This makes them rare horses from a genetically point of view. In 1965 the American Louise Firouz living in Iran got involved in the protection of the Caspian horse. She also exported Caspian horses to the occident where they are now in the hands of passionate breeders. In it’s cradle of origin, the Caspian horse is neglected and in danger of extinction. The Caspian horse is 1,2 hands high, rustic, quiet, docile, resistant, affectionate, intelligent, playful and vivacious.

They conceived to federate a new transnational people, “Those of the Horses”, who are about six hundred million individuals that share most peacefully their common passion of horses. The horse, as a federating theme, in between human beings. On the contrary of those seeking a Guinness Internet record of 9 999 999 individual clicks, we are busy to bring together 600 million horse lovers. Join the new Horse People and let it be known!

According to our research, the world horse population reaches about 55 to 65 million heads. The incertitude of the number is mainly due to fact that no precise census has ever been made and seems even impossible. The most reliable statistics come from the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organisation).

In France the horse population is about 350 000 heads. This number is certainly far more precise then the world statistics knowing that in France the law obliges the individual identification of all horses while deep down in Asia or Africa and elsewhere we can have a doubt about the realisation of statistics.

In addition, an estimate allows us to say that there exist worldwide about 300 different horse breeds, but there also nothing is precise. Our research centre crossed over a 100 different breed listings and we came to the conclusion that some 300 breeds still exist currently, and that about 30 breeds are more or less in immanent danger of extinction.

The distribution of horse breeds in the world, as far as we are quite sure about it, can be presented as follows:

Europe : 156, Asia : 68, North America : 19, South America : 13, Africa : 28 and Oceania : 6, for a total of 290 breeds actually selected for the Horses of the World Park.

We conceived The Park’s Voice as an internal journal that is open to the public but written by the creators of the Park and their collaborators. To start with, we will talk about the history of the realization of the Park until today but the general intention is to share the future developments of the project. In one way, it will be a kind of intimate journal of the Park, for you to be able to witness our progress.

Eureka
Under the header The Project and the chapter Concept we have already said several words how we discovered about the creation of the Park. The moment that we call “Eureka !!”, ” I found it !!”. On the contrary of what one could think, Eureka is not at all a spontaneous thought that pops up from the brain but on the contrary it is the fruit of a long distillation of thoughts. Thoughts already present in the subconscious brain and that one day come into alignment without warning to and form a thought a new. Eureka is not rocket science and not reserved for some professors of innovation. Each of us has experienced these moments where we have said, “I found it” as a relief. Often to add “but how can it be possible that I haven’t thought of it before?” That is how it went for the co-founders of the Horses of the World project (see also the chapter on the Team). For us to have perceived after studies and verifications that indeed such a park does not exist anywhere in the world today. Following that we had to go from the idea (Eureka) to the concept that is the work of analysis of all the different aspects of such a project: who, what, when, how, where, for who, why, by what method, with whom, what financing, what market, what marketing etc, a considerable work that took us five years before we were able to present us to the Horse People.
