WORLD HERITAGE

EQUINE FOUNDATION

At this moment in the history of the world, wherein the influence of men shows more and more cruelly his wrongdoing towards nature, the World Heritage Equine Foundation strives for the well being of all equines and against their extinction while promoting the equestrian knowledge and culture in it’s largest sense.

MOTIVATION

Since the replacement of the equines by the mechanical horsepower nearly 10 % of the traditional horse breeds are actually in danger of extinction. The situation with the donkeys is not much better in particular for the hemiones and the onagres who are in great danger of extinction. In the last century one of the six breeds of the zebras has definitely disappeared.

Since the progressive abandonment of animals that work in traction in the developed countries, the equestrian culture now more so orients itself essentially towards sports, leisure and therapy.

The equestrian culture has progressively changed from an utilitarian economic position to the alternative of a physical and psychic balance in favour of human beings.

ACTIONS

The World Heritage Equine Foundation proposes actions that reference information; scientific studies the fight against extinction, hippotherapy and the fight against cruelty towards equines.

The information will concern in one part the free access to the data bank comprising all knowledge on the equines and on the equine culture exclusive of commercial information.

The action in favour of science will comprise the support of all studies in favour of a better knowledge about equines.

The action against extinction of equine breeds will concern the guarantee of survival territories, confined protected areas for reproduction and for the breeds of less then a 100 individuals still alive a frozen sperm bank.

The action in favour of hippotherapy (or equitherapy) will include information about the elevated ability both physical and psychological of horses to heal in particular physically and psychologically handicapped children as well as the training of hippotherapists.

The Foundation will also act in the struggle against violence towards equines (cruelty and aging).

For these actions the Foundation will receive contributions and grants.

The provisional headquarter is established at: 38, rue Pierre Sémard, 34200 Sète, France.
